Ibiza

The island of Ibiza is made up of five towns: Eivissa, the capital, Santa Eulària des Riu, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Sant Josep de sa Talaia and Sant Joan de Labritja. Each of them offers visitors different and complementary activities.

The city of Eivissa –the island's capital-, is a must for visitors to our island. Simply by looking at the impressive 16th century walls, one can fully understand the reason why they were declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1999.

Its historic quarters invite tourists to discover Ibiza's fashion and handicrafts, along with typical local dishes. Wandering around the old part of the city will take visitors through narrow streets which are full of history. As such, it is advisable to use comfortable footwear and to avoid the hottest parts of the day in summer.

Talamanca, Figueretes y Platja d'en Bossa are three of Eivissa's wonderful beaches. Platja d'en Bossa belongs to two different towns: the city of Eivissa and also Sant Josep de sa Talaia.

Gastronomy

The wide variety of restaurants on the island makes it a must to try the local Ibizan specialities. Some restaurants on the island are highly prestigious on international scale.

Ibiza is a kaleidoscope of cultures in which visitors can savour both exotic and more traditional dishes.

Beaches

Throughout the 18 kilometres of natural sandy beaches, fringed by crystal clear waters, Ibiza offers a huge range of possibilities to cater for all types of preferences. On the majority of our beaches, there is the chance to do all kinds of water and outdoor sports.

For those who enjoy hill walking or rambling, the Ibizan coast is a paradisiacal place to spend time. Moreover, many of these beaches are not only of great natural beauty but also have a historical worth in that there are many remains of past civilisations, old defence towers and other signs of our past history that are of great interest.

Sport

Ibiza is more than just sun and sand, and more than mere nightlife. Its unique location, climate and features make Ibiza the ideal place for visitors to do all kinds of sports at all levels, thanks to the variety of sports facilities available throughout the year.

Nature

In the more inland areas of Ibiza, there are many hidden spots of great charm; small country villages, almond groves, olive trees, and carob trees enclosed by ancient stone walls, along with many fine examples of the island's particular architecture. A stroll or a bike ride are two great ways to enjoy this scenery.

You cannot fail to be amazed by the sunsets on the horizon or the appeal of the little islands that surround mainland Ibiza. In particular, es Vedra, in the town of Sant Josep.

The prairies of Posidonia form part of our natural landscape and of our culture. One cannot imagine our island without its fields of Posidonia, since they define and shape both the sea beds and coastline of our island, and also the particular features of Ibiza's waters. For this reason they were given the status of World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1999.
